In Search of Lost Nature
This photographic series was created in the context of the artistic research project Territórios Sensíveis in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Based on the reenactment of a bodily posture, it touched upon the environmental issues of the small island of Paquetá, especially the problems with toxicity (due to the voracious oil exploitation at the Guanabara Bay). By alluding to a post-apocalyptic scenario in which the island had become devastated and unlivable, this series illustrates a human body lying at different spots of it, as if time had stood still and as if there was still a sign of life. In connection with this series, Nathalie also produced a video-essay entitled Paquetás resting body or (re)tracing its documentary meaning which integrates a collaborative article published at the Global Performance Studies Journal.
