Não Ser Para Ser

A circle formed by five white chairs with a small pot of water under each. A woman dressed in white, walks slowly and steady for five hours, occasionally sitting on one of the chairs. Her gaze is focused, the palms of her hands are turned outwards, and her long dress accumulates the dirt from the old factory…

Inspired by William Shakespeare’s well-known phrase “to be or not to be”, this performance (or walking meditation) marks the beginning of Nathalie’s artistic exploration and journey into all kinds of spaces, places, or sites. Here, into the ruins of a former margarine factory which in 1997, integrated the serial project Arte Cidade: A cidade e suas histórias focused on urban interventions, architecture, and public art, curated by Nelson Brissac Peixoto and Agnaldo Farias.
