Narciso

A white circle made of wood, with a mirror which symbolises: Life, Womb, Ego, Loneliness and Freedom. Inside the circle a female figure leans over her own reflection. Her eyes stare into the mirror while she barely moves. From time to time, she utters a single word: OUT!!!

During Nathalie S. Fari’s studies in art education (1994-1998) at the Fundação Armando Alvares Penteado University in São Paulo, she created a series of performance-installations at specific areas of the university building. Here, she placed the work amidst a staircase to not only interrupt the flow of movement, but also to explore an intimate space and a one-to-one encounter in the mirror.
